Description
You've heard of the gingerbread man, but what about the gingerbread baby? This December literacy activity is the perfect companion to the classic tale The Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett. Includes writing templates, baby book, birth certificate and more!
Your children are sure to feel some classroom magic when a basket of gingerbread babies arrives on your doorstep, complete with an official letter asking them to adopt them as if they were their own!
In this fun unit, your students will adopt a gingerbread baby, give it a name and fill out its Birth Certificate. They will make a Gingerbread Baby Book and write a story about their adventures! If you want to do a fun activity with your students that ALL students can participate in….this is for you!

WHAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT THIS RESOURCE:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “My class absolutely LOVED this activity during the holidays. I tried to keep my class free from religion based celebrations (to honor the diversity in my class), and this was a great substitute!”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “My students loved naming, taking care of and writing about the gingerbread baby. It was a nice activity for the week before Christmas break. My students who do not celebrate Christmas were able to participate in this activity as well.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “This was an absolutely fantastic activity for my students!! They were so fully engaged with their Gingerbread Babies! Thank you so much! I look forward to using this resource again and again. It was a great way for students to write and them not knowing that they were writing! If you are looking for something that is engaging and educational, this is it!!
