Everyone loves the classic story The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. In this story, young Peter gets himself in trouble as he ventures into Mr. MacGregor's garden and gets trapped! Children love the beautiful water color illustrations and the silly tale of Peter's adventures!
After reading the story, we worked together to create a story elements anchor chart. We discussed character setting, problem and solution. We worked together in shared writing to complete the chart.
Next, the students completed this free All About Peter Rabbit flip book. They wrote and illustrated the characters, setting, problem and solution in this cute flip book.
Next we read the story Peter Cottontail also known as the Easter Bunny! We discussed the similarities and differences of the two rabbits, and then we completed a Venn diagram to compare and contrast Peter Rabbit and Peter Cottontail.
Finally, the students completed their own Venn diagram comparing and contrasting the two Peters.
This simple lesson on comparing and contrasting is perfect to add to your Easter writing activities in your classroom. Pin these Peter Rabbit activities for later or grab this freebie here!
