Halloween Costumes For Teachers
The Four Seasons
Winter, Spring , Summer or Fall…..all you've got to do is call. And I'll be there yes I will, you've got a friend…..These costumes always make me think of the James Taylor hit!
One year we dressed as the Four Seasons! Another super easy and cheap costume idea. I was “fall” and I simply wore brown leggings and a brown turtleneck. I hot glued some artificial fall leaves to my shirt and shoes, made a fall headband and stuffed a plastic leaf bag with newspapers. Super easy but cute!
101 Dalmations
Nothing could be cuter that 4 little Dalmatian puppies and Cruella DeVille! For this costume we bought inexpensive white t shirts and hot glued black felt dots all over the shirt. Round it out with some cute Dalmatian ears, collar and tail and you have a super easy halloween costume for teachers.
Cruella Deville was easy with a black sweater and skirt, a feather boa and her black and white wig!
Winnie The Pooh Characters
Every child knows the characters from Winnie the Pooh! I loved these costumes because they were super simple to make. Just some inexpensive T shirts and felt and we had Tiggger, Eyeore, Pooh and Piglet!
Candyland Characters
One year, we decided to dress as the characters from the game Candyland. We had Queen Frostine, Princess Lolly, Lord Licorice, Gramma Nutt and I was the Gingerbread Girl. I repurposed that brown turtleneck and leggings from the Four Seasons and made my dress and hat with brown felt. I found the lollipop and candy necklace at my local craft store.
Halloween Party Ideas
Now that you have ideas for your classroom door decorations, it's time to plan what you'll do for your Halloween party. One of my favorite ways to celebrate was to set up my classroom to look like a haunted house. I set up 8 different stations around the room for the students to visit. Each station represented a different room in the haunted house!
Students visited the haunted kitchen to make witch's brew, the spooky attic to measure monsters, and visited ghosts in the graveyard! It's a super fun and creative way to make your Halloween party both educational and fun! Click here to take a closer look at this resource.

Eric Carle Characters
These Eric Carle Costumes had to be one of my all-time favorite Halloween costumes for teachers. Our team recruited a couple of our Title One teachers to join us and we each took a character from an Eric Carle book. These costumes were simple with a decorated T-shirt on top and a tutu on the the bottom. We added some cute insect antennae headbands and carried the books in our school parade. These costumes were a big hit during our classroom Halloween party!
Rockin' the 1950's
Who else loves the ladies of the 1950's? What a cute era with their poodle skirts, saddle shoes, and cat eyeglasses! I even found a pink lady jacket for my costume! The best part of this costume was that we could repurpose it for our 50th-day celebration!
Wizard Of Oz
Everyone loves the classic Wizard of Oz with Dorothy, the lion, Tin Man, and of course – the wicked witch of the West! Our Dorothy isn't in this picture but she wore a cute blue gingham dress and of course the ruby slippers. My costume was too hard to make this year, so I found a wicked witch costume online. Our lion repurposed her tutu from Eric Carle and our tin man spray painted a box silver for her costume!
I hope that gives you a few ideas for some Halloween costumes for teachers too. So until next year………we're off to see the wizard!
